Evening dresses are the elegant style dresses which women wear to important events such as formal or celebratory events. With the evening dresses there is allot to choose from, there are many designs and colours to choose from although black is very popular. Other popular colours include dark red, blue and white, there are also some dresses with print patterns but they are not as popular as the black, white, red or blue evening dresses. Evening dresses also come in a variety of lengths, the short evening dresses are generally knee length with the other dresses being longer, there are some short evening dresses which are slightly above the knee but these are not as popular as the longer evening dresses.

Popular materials used in evening dresses include silk, lace and polyester, silk and polyester are the most popular but many women like the lace dresses too. Some evening dresses also have additional styling to them, this can include some bead detail or a waist tie, some evening dresses also have detachable straps. Then there is the style of the evening dress, some are backless and some are strapless, the strapless dresses have no straps going over the shoulders and the backless dresses do not cover the back when worn. These strapless or backless evening dresses are very popular as they have a more elegant look, this is why you will find most ladies evening dresses have one of those features.

Then there is the prom dress, this is a formal dress for children and teenagers which is used for formal events such as school proms. The prom dress is like the evening dress in that it is very elegant and they will not be worn often, prom dresses come in lots of styles and colours with black being very popular. As with the evening dresses some of the prom dresses have additional style such as backless or strapless designs or additional styling such as beads or a waist tie, the strapless and backless prom dresses are popular as they have a more elegant look.

Then there are the casual dresses which are great for summer, these are also cheaper than the formal dresses. The casual dresses come in many different styles with denim and light floral patterns being popular, there are so many available though that it really is best to have a good shop around and see what is on offer. Summer dresses are great in the nice weather as they look stylish and keep you cool, summer dresses are usually very light so that they are comfortable to wear in the summer months. Summer dresses usually have a print or floral design to them that look good in the summer months, tie die designs are also popular. There are also lots of other styles of casual dress available with denim, mini and print skirts being very popular, the denim skirts are heavier than most other skirts so are best in cooler weather. The mini skirts are shorter than normal skirts but do vary in length, they are always above the knee and it's just a matter of buying a mini skirt that you are comfortable with, some mini skirts and not that short at all.

The brand that you buy is also important, many ladies skirts and dresses are made by shops and sold as own brand items, there are many shops who do this but still offer very nice designs and styles so it can be well worth a look. The great thing about this is that the dresses and skirts are cheaper, if you are looking for a cheap dress then have a look at shops like Next and Debenhams, they design their own dresses which are very stylish but still quite cheap. Then there are also designer brands which make dresses and skirts, these designer brands are more expensive but offer the designer label and generally a more creative design, popular designer labels include Warehouse, Morgan, Diesel and many others.
